SwitchFlops

So I broke down today and bought a pair of SwitchFlops.

But I guess I 'technically' didn't buy them, because my aunt is paying me back for them as a birthday gift to me. :)

Anyway, I while back (maybe last summer?) I came across these SwitchFlops in a little boutique store here in town. I was intrigued by them...the idea is so simple! I can't believe someone didn't think of this earlier!

Then I got to thinking, these would be SUPER easy to make. So I took a little trip to Target and bought myself a $10 pair of black flip flops with the intention of sewing some Velcro on them and making myself my very own SwitchFlops...but I would call them SwapFlops...because I like that better.

And then I remembered that I do not know how to sew...and I do not own a sewing machine.

So I decided I would have to enlist someone to do it for me.

Fast forward about a year to just the other day. My friend Mandy asked me if I had ever heard of SwitchFlops and I told her yes and how I had this grand idea to make them myself and how easy it would be.

Then I decided that I needed to return back to the store where I originally saw them and buy one pair of straps as a pattern to give to whomever I was going to sucker into sewing these things for me ask nicely for help making these. So off I went.

Come to find out the store is going out of business...

And everything in the store is 25 - 50% off...

Including all the SwitchFlops and Straps....

And then I discovered that they didn't just make flip flops, but they also make kitten heeled dressy 'flip flops' like these!!

And who am I kidding? I can't find a pair of shoes like these and sew Velcro on them...so I bought them...and a pair of straps..because I'm not crazy about the checkered ones they came with.

But I still have every intention of asking my friend Bryn, who can sew and owns a machine, if she can make me the straps to go on them.

Because I think it would be much more fun to design my own straps!! Plus, hopefully, she can still figure out for me a way to sew the 'fuzzy side' of the Velcro strip onto the Target flip flops so I can use the straps on them as well.

I'm so 'flipping' excited! (Pun Intended)

New Siggy

Whatcha think? Came across this website on Carla's blog and decided to give it a whirl...

I couldn't figure out how to get it into my blog though, so I googled it and found some handy dandy directions here.

Just a little something something for the ol' blog. ;)

Seeing Red

These babies are all wrapped up and sitting in a box at my moms house.

How do I know that? Because my mom told me. :)

There's a story here.

Have I ever mentioned to you about how I get on these obsessive little searches for things I think I 'need'...especially when they are on clearance? :)

Like the time I called every Younkers department store in 6 states looking for a pair of $95 dollar shoes that were marked down 85% and I just had to have them?

Then come to find out that the local store here, after I called three times asking if they had it and then finally went in there and stalked the shoe dept, because I just had a gut feeling they had the shoe but weren't looking for it, that they did indeed have the shoe I was looking for!

I paid $8 for a $95 pair of shoes...and I do wear them at least a few times a week, so it was worth it.

Back to my story....

A few weeks ago a friend at work had these amazing red numbers on and I just had to know where she got them...I had been searching for the perfect pair of red shoes for a long time...because every girl should have a pair of red heels, right?

I had bought a pair back when I was frantically searching for the pair mentioned above, but they are a little high...and I save them for occasions that do not require alot of walking...

So I asked my friend where she got them and she told me Kohl's and that they were on clearance...that's all I needed to hear.

I drove to two different Kohl's near me looking for them...no luck.

I called the other three Kohl's in/near town...no luck either.

As a last resort, I called my sister, in another state and told her to call Kohl's and ask them if they had them...she was too busy to do so...but gave me the phone number.

I called. Got the Shoe department. Told the lady the shoes I was looking for. What color I wanted, what size I needed...then sat on hold for what seemed like an eternity.

When she finally came back to the phone, this is the conversation we had:

Her: "Today is your lucky day!"

Me: "You have them?"

Her: "Yep. They are the LAST pair we have have."

Me: "Are you serious? The red one? Size 10?"

Her: "Yep..the last pair."

Me: "Sweet! You have no idea...I don't even live in KC...my sister does...and I called every store in my town...and they didn't have them..and they were sold out online..and I called my sister, and she gave me your number, and I called and you have them...She'll come get them for me...hold them for her, PLEASE!"

And she did..and she brought them up with her from KC yesterday..and says they are for my birthday on Monday...but she left this morning again and won't be back until Tuesday...so I'm getting those babies today!

Good Lord, I'm neurotic..or something. I'm sick. It's a sickness. I was overly excited about a stupid pair of shoes. I promise, I'm not like this all the time...I don't think.

I'm not even going to mention that I did the same thing a few weeks ago looking for a stupid pair of running shoes because they were 'cute'...I gave up on that because they were also expensive..so maybe that doesn't make me too crazy, right? I mean it's okay to get excited about a $10 pair of shoes....but I still know when to draw the line and give up when I can't justify spending alot on other pairs. :)

That makes me feel better....I think?

Because Everyone needs a 24 Pack of Sharpies...

Can I tell you that I'm just the teeniest bit obsessed with school supplies?

I love them.

This is seriously my favorite time of year...when the stores put out all the new school supplies. I want to spend hours at Target looking at them all. My next favorite would be Christmas when there are a million different spools of ribbon and I want to buy them all to wrap gifts with....but that's another story for another time...

I stock up on 5 packs of College Rule Notebooks...because you never know when you might have to take notes I guess. Because I actually take notes with them at work. (In high school I would by 10 different colored notebooks and then by 10 plain 2 pocket folders in the same colors so that I could color coordinate them by subject for each class....Red folder and Notebook for History, Blue for Math, Yellow for English etc. I was a freak like that.) I still have a different color notebook for each meeting at work I take notes for. I'm Crazy...

I buy boxes of ball point pens. Blue. No Black. They are only 50 cents a box!

I contemplate whether or not I really need 24 different colored sharpie pens. So many colors! I want them so bad, but ouch! the price.. :(

Highlighters...Oh my goodness DO NOT get me started on the highlighters! If there is a pack with yellow, pink, orange, green and blue....I'm sold. I have no idea what the heck I'm going to highlight, but I NEED them.

Remember Trapper Keepers? LOVED MINE!! It was red and blue and had crazy rainbow circles on it. :)

I'm so psyched that Christian is starting school this year..I can't wait to take him shopping for supplies! ;)
